27 October 07 - 04:43Halloween

Boy, oh boy!! Did I have a good night with crazy and lovely people. What a lucky bastard I am, too. :-)

I've spent my evening in cafe 'de Keizer' at the annual Halloween fest. Like every year, owner, staff and friends have moved rocks to make this party even better then last year, and the guests know that. The effort that is put into the costumes is just awesome! I'm too f*cked up now to process all the pictures I took, but here's a little preview. :-)

The rest of them end up on the website.

19 October 07 - 02:33Coffee and Cigarettes

My girlfriend's sister said: "Here man, you really should watch this one", and she chucked a DVD in my hands. So, we watched. What a refreshment.

If I understand correctly, Jim Jarmusch the director took almost 20 years to complete this series of black and white dialogs about people meeting over coffee and cigarettes. Talking about their thing while having coffee and cigarettes. Simple, ay? :)

The first few clips were shot for Saturday Night Live back in 1986. The short film "Somewhere in California" was shot in 1992. In 2003, the other 'episodes' were filmed and added.

My favourite setting is "Jack shows Meg his Tesla coil". (Jack and Meg White who make the White Stripes)

"So Jack, are you gonna tell me about your Tesla coil?"

Jack shows his Tesla coil to Meg in some bar. He brought it in using his 'Little red wagon'. Well, the Tesla coil works until it breaks down in a puff of smoke. Where Meg says "I think your spark gaps are too far apart on your spark-coil vibrator" Jack: "Hmmm. That could be it!"

Anywho, the film has a lot more interesting scenes in it than just this Nerdie Geekie stuff to choose from.

Did I mention the awesome soundtrack?.... (and Tom Waits and Iggy Pop and Steve Coogan and Steve Buscemi and...)

10 October 07 - 00:48Traveling from home to work

Since I have quit the rat-race, I have the joy to whitness this kind of stuff on my way to work. Worth stopping the car for and sit there for a while...

05 October 07 - 15:10What happened next

A while back I told you about the competitions on Worth1000. Well, I enrolled in another competition of which the result is this:

The structural integrity of the turban was compromised only seconds after Rembrandt had finished...

:-)

The assignment was to show what could have happened after a painter had finished a work.

(The original I used of Rembrandt's painting is in the "Read more")
